Loss in female |
| Hair
Loss in female is not very different
from that of man. Following are few
differences. |
- Female pattern badness usually
has intact hairline but the thinning
is usually generalized on front,
top and vertex in ‘O' shape unlike
that of man who lose in ‘U' shape.
Hair loss occurs at a little later
age than that of man.
- Hair loss needs to be particularly
thoroughly investigated in ladies
before any underlying medical cause
where one may not be advised Hair
Transplant for hair loss. Thyroid
diseases, nutritional and menstrual
abnormalities, Polycystic Ovary
etc, after menopause are esp. investigated
- Hair loss in early postoperative
procedure due to telogen effluvium
is more than that of man but the
hair normally grows back.
- Final result takes little longer
than that of man because for hair
to grow longer in females take longer
time.

| » Eyebrows,
Eye lashes, Beard, Moustache and other body
sites |
Thin eyebrow, light brow,
loss of total or partial brow due to thyroid
problems, injury burns etc. are be reconstructed
by implanting single hair follicular unit
graft taking care of the acuteness of the
exit angle of hair. Implanters are esp. beneficial.
The quality of graft donor site selection
is important. One must understand that the
grafted Scalp hair grows faster and for longer
time than the native eyebrow hair so the eyebrow
need regular trimming of grafted hair.
The eyelashes are reconstructed by Follicular
Units with single hair. This needs special
care with regards to direction, exit angle
and depth of implantation.
Beard, Moustache, pubic area, sideburns, chest
etc. need hair transplantation for either
poor density, partial or complete loss due
to trauma or other causes. They can be reconstructed
with Follicular Units with single hair usually
taking care of respective anatomy in relation
to hair |

| » Burns
and Hair Transplant |
| Because of the reduced
blood supply in the scarred area of burns
usually dense packing is not done;. The procedure
is performed in 2 stages normally to give
density. Survival rate is usually less than
that of normal skin. Thin and. immobile-scarred
tissue is not very good bed for transplant.

| » Repair
Procedure |
| At times badly done,
done by older methods such as punch (Corn
row or baby doll hair line), flap, reduction
etc. or inadequately done transplant gives
results less than desired and one needs multiple
combination of techniques to improve hair
line, direction of hair, increase density,
or improve donor scar |
